You can live a more abundant life right now – right where you are – right as you are.
You don’t need loads of money, more friends, a bigger house, more stuff. All you need is to better examine your life as it is.
Here are a 8 ways you can get started.
1. Acknowledge what you have right now.
It could be family, friends, a great paying job, the ability to stay home with your children, a roof over your head, or food on your table. Even if things aren’t going so great for you, just think of what is going right for you. There’s always something we can be grateful for. Even if it’s simply that you’re living and breathing today. Start there.
2. Everyday list at least three things that you’re grateful for.
If you can’t think of anything, simply write “thank you” three times. It will help spark a thankful attitude and you’ll eventually see what you have to be grateful for once you get in the right mindset.
3. Make a list of things that make you happy.
Call it your “Joy List” if you will. Read it often and be sure you’re doing what makes you happy – every. single. day.
4. Evaluate what’s most important to you in your life.
Be clear on your values and whether or not you’re living in alignment with them. Be sure you give your time to the most important things in your life. Get rid of what’s not serving your purpose and focus only on what matters most to you.
5. Give to others.
It doesn’t have to be big and it doesn’t even have to be money, but give to others in whatever way you can. Give the clothes you don’t wear anymore to a friend or a local homeless shelter. Invite someone having a tough time over for dinner. Just share what you have and see how great you feel and watch how the things you give come back to you.
6. Celebrate your meals.
When you prepare your next meal (even if it’s just a sandwich) enjoy the way you prepare it and then savor the flavored of the meal – no matter how small or simple it may be.
7. Take time for rest and relaxation.
Make down time an important part of your day. Contrary to popular belief, rest and relaxation is incredibly important for our health and well-being. And, for me, it feels like such a treat to have that time each day for myself.
8. Spend quality time with the people who are important to you.
Let’s put down our phones and have real, quality time with our families and our friends. Time goes by so fast. Take time each day to spend time with the people who are most important to you. They won’t always be there. Savor these moments before they’re gone.
Chances are, if you’ve gone through this list, you see now that you already have an abundant life. I know my mindset has really shifted once I gave thought to what’s important to me and what I already have. Sure, I have desires and goals that I want to work toward, but knowing that as I am, I have enough. I am enough. I live an abundant life.
